3D model description

This is a model of an East German Watchtower (B-Turm) these towers where all along the border between DDR and BRD. The original towers were up to 9m: s high (B9) but they were built in sections and the height was adapted to provide enough view in the landscape. Typically, two officers would be on duty.

The model is made in "G-scale", 1:22.5 but you can of course scale it. We are running a narrow-gauge railroad on our garden and the theme is DDR during the late 1980: s so for us this tower is a must. I have made mine only using 4 sections (B4) but there is an "extension moduleโ€ so you can make it any height you want. It's modelled after some pictures I found on the original ones and a drawing. Modelled in FreeCad. First picture is from our layout where it "watches" the border towards BRD.

On the top I have added a "search light". To light it I've used a 5mm high output LED. The search light and officers were printed using Zortrax Inkspire DLP Resin Printer and the rest of the tower on my Zortrax M200.

In the file set there is also a simple table and an ashtray you can print to go along with the interior. Some AK47: s would also be a good addition. The officers come from this thing by fredini: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:161756

Enjoy! /Joakim
