3D model description

This adapter was created to allow for convenient use of Olympic weight plates (2-inch hole) with Standard barbells/ equipment (1-inch bar). I designed this adapter to fit 10-45lbs plates (25-40mm adjustable range). Smaller plates can be used as well (I have created spacers to allow for a stable connection).

This adapter allows you to use your Olympic-style weights on more than just barbells. Since the adapter attaches to the plate, you can easily use your Olympic plates on dumbbell bars, lat pull-down machines, and other plate-loaded fitness equipment.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment. I will do my best to reply as soon as I can.

By request I have added files for adapters that accommodate wider plates (40-58mm). I have also included adapters that have wider holes to fit wider barbells. Please review file names to find the file that best suits your needs.

3D printing settings

For best results, this adapter should be printed in either PLA or PETG. I found that PETG worked the best as its layer adhesion and glossy finish allowed for strong and smooth threads. If you don't have PETG, or you find it difficult to work with, PLA works very well too. If you use PLA, you may want to increase the number of walls or infill percentage (due to PLA's brittle nature).

After much experimentation, I found that these print settings made for strong and functional parts...

-Infill: 20-30% (30% if you are looking for a denser feel)
-Number of walls: 4 (outer, top, bottom)
-Layer height: 0.2mm
-Nozzle size: 0.4mm
Basic Cura settings for everything else
Print speed will vary based on material and your machine
