I'm a superfan of the RifRaf tiles. They bring so much to the game.

For those of you not knowing what I'm talking about, they can be found here:

This storage systems will work with any other tile design anyway...

I wanted something simple, an easy system to store and pick up the tiles.

Tiles should be easily identified while inside the storage

It should be stackable and expandable because I'm currently designing new tiles for the fanmade expansions based on the RifRaf ones.

It should accomodate low profile and 'high' tiles like the nuclear mushroom.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any storage solution which suited my expectations, so I decided to design my own ;-)

2 different sizes:

-low (for tiles up to 18mm high)

-high (for tiles up to 36.5mm high or even higher, see below)

3 different design each:

a version with no empty cell

a version with one empty cell

a version with 3 empty cells

A cardboard version is also available, within which you will be able to stack up to 4 cardboard tiles in each cell.

Those empty cells are designed in order for very high tiles like 'the mushroom' on the lower tray to pass through the tray positioned above.

A standoff cell is available for gluing (2-3 drops f superglue) it at the desired height above the very high tile in order not to 'loose' a cell and put a low profile tile on top of it.

The holes at the bottom are designed in order to save some filament and to pick the tiles easily when passing a finger through them

Before you start printing, print the test sample in order to validate the dimensions of the hexes.

I printed my RifRaf tiles at a 96.5% scale because I wanted them to have exactly the same size as the original cardboard ones.

With this size of tiles, I ended up scaling my design to 103% for a perfect fit (not too tight, not too loose)

At this scale, it was just OK to print it on my Ender 3V2 (22x22).

Mind the position of your bed clamps as the print head may collide with them (I placed them at the very right side of the bed to avoid this issue)

My settings:

Slicer: Cura

Layer height: 0.28

Wall lines count:2

BOTTOM and TOP layers: 2 each

Filament: Cheap Amazon Basicfil PLA (just great price and quality)

Print speed 75mm/s / 50mm/s for walls

Make sure you have a good bed adhesion to avoid warping.

If you want to have the same result as the lid you see on the pictures, print without top m layers in order to have the 'roaster' effect. I changed color from white to black after the two bottom layers.

Print parameters are the same as above +

infill 15%

infill multiply 3

infill pattern: grid

Axis for the lifting tabs are made out of a paperclip

This is my very first design.
