ModiBot DIY figure kit

ModiBot DIY figure kit 3D print model

Description

ModiBot is a poseable figure frame to use for your own DIY figure projects, like drawing, character design, storytelling, stop motion animation, dioramas, and school projects. His only limit is your imagination.

This figure was designed for SLS printing in Polymide, but we are working toward making him more printable at home. This is the latest offering of parts pre-configured for printing on desktop home printers. We've modified the designs to include integrated supports, so these items should be printed using 'No Supports' settings.

For best results, print in PLA (or better yet, ABS, if possible) on high detail settings on any home or hobby printer.

Printed on Finder with PLA, High Quality, 12% fill, 220C Head Temp Overall great model. Lots of fun once it's built. I'm new to 3D printing and made what is probably a "rookie" mistake, placing all of the parts on my print table and hitting go. I thought I had a logical arrangement, but ultimately I believe this resulted in: 1) longer print time, 2) lower quality print, 3) more "boogers" that had to be cleaned up after the print. I broke one of the shoulder pieces trying to assemble and reprinted it by itself. Took <20 min and the print quality was far superior. Only issue I have, possibly or even likely due to my first print "all-in-one" go, is that the pieces don't fit together great. Lots of force required to get the ball-socket joints together even after a good bit of Dremel clean-up. I'm going to build a second model, one piece at a time, and see if it all works better! Side-note, I love the fact that it kinda looks like a Terminator endo-skeleton. Two thumbs up for that.
