Samurai armor remains one of the most interesting and rare components of the Samurai era. The armor was constructed from bamboo, cloth and metal. Unlike its better known counterpart, the medieval armor, the Japanese example was much lighter, which provided for ease of movement but compromised protection. The armor had to be light weight because the Samurai would often engage into hand to hand combat, requiring fast and precise movements. The majority of the armor was made from bamboo. The chest plate was usually one piece of metal while the arms and neck were composed of small pieces of metal tied together with colorful strings.
For the kimono use your favourite flexible filament, and recommended settings from your 3D printer manufacturer for that filament - for example the makerbot flexible filament settings, with layer height set at 0.20mm the print time is 2 hours 44 minutes and uses 34g of filament. For the head and out body armour use regular PLA or ABS filament - Both pieces can be printed on a single print bed, I'd suggest using 0.10mm layer height to get a nice level of detail on the mask, no need for support - 0.10mm layer height 20% infill This take 6 hours 35 minutes to print and uses 38g of filament to print both the helmet and out armour together :) You can change the layer height to 0.20mm for a speedier print.
