3D model description

These are a set of modeled deer antlers that you can mount on a headband, wig, costume, or anything else you can think of. They're great for Halloween, cosplay, music festivals, or for wearing just because you feel like it.

Due to the modeling process, the antlers look like they were machined out of a solid piece of material. This gives them an almost futuristic look. This can be enhanced by printing with a shiny material. They'd also look AMAZING sanded and painted with high-gloss paint.

You have a few mounting options. You can use an M4 machine screw, an M3 machine screw with a heat-set insert, or you can use the blank model to create your own mounting holes.

There are three versions included in the .zip file:

1. M3 Threaded Insert - This version accepts an M3 threaded heat-set insert such as these and an M3 x 8mm machine screw. This was the original version of these antlers. The heat-set inserts produce a solid mounting between the headband and the antler (more on mounting tips below).

2. M4 Machine Screw - Not everyone has a soldering iron to use heat-set inserts, so this version simply accepts an M4 x 10mm machine screw directly. The screw size was increased to get better grip without an insert.

3. Blank - This version does not include any mounting holes at all. Use this version if you want to scale them up to a bigger size or you want to add your own mounting holes using the CAD program of your choice.

Mounting Tips
- Try for a mounting distance of roughly 55mm. Too close or too far apart can look unnatural.
- If mounting to a wig or fabric, consider using the included backing disks. Simply put them on the inside of the wig to provide a bit more surface to help hold the antlers in place.
- When tightening the screws, you'll need to get them snug to hold the antlers in place, but careful to not strip the hole on the M4 version.
- Try to use truss-head screws if you can find them. The wider domed head works best against your head.

3D printing settings

Size: Roughly 66mm x 96mm x 102mm per antler
Supports: Yes
Perimiters: At least 3 - this helps add strength to keep the antlers from breaking as easily.
Infill: 70% - this might be overkill, but it helps add additional strength
