3D model description

We were blown away with the success of our huge, build it yourself Geodesic Sphere design, So we decided it was time to release another one! This one is very different but looks to be from the same family. The Slatted Dodecahedron Lamp Shade is an other platonic solid with an industrial aesthetic.

Perfect for a hanging lamp shade as the slats on the bottom pannels shield your eyes from the direct light of the bulb while letting through enough light to brighten your space, we think it would also look cool as a lightbox.

Similar to the geodesic sphere this design is huge, although due to careful design decisions you can easily get one out of a 1kg roll of filament.

Each pannel has been designed to print on any printer with a 200mm x 200mm print bed.

Also the pannels all fit together in any orientation. [e.g. you could mix up the orientation of the slatted pannels or print 11 PannelCaps and create the design from those components with a PannelMount].

This product has been designed for an E27 lampholder [40mm Diameter] if you can't find one of those let us know and we can supply you with an adapter plate/alter the design.

This product contains 4 different parts [PannelCapx1, PannelMountx1, Pannelx10, TriBracketx20] and requires:

40 x 4mm x 10mmL wood or machine screws

[wood is quicker but machine screws suite the design more in our opinion but require more care in the instilation]

For build instructions see the animation gif uploaded with this design.

The materials we used were Satin Silver + Satin Gold [3D Jake]

We have tested this product with a 15W light bulb and there has been no deformation of the PLA. If you use PLA we wouldn't recommend going much higher than this.

To print this design we used a Creality CR10 Max and the model in the photos is printed with 0.6 mm nozzle (you can also use a 0.4mm).

We would love to see your prints!
