3D model description

Coverplate for WaveShare 1.3 inch LCD 240x240

Coverplate for the Waveshare 1.3 INCH LCD 240X240 PIXELS, Pi zero hat used in the SeedSigner BTC project.

No case, coverplate only, for the minimalist, fast and cheap to produce !

It is not easy to print a nice smooth top layer with an FDM (Fused Deposit Modeling) 3D printer.
Therefore, the cover plate is printed with the face down on the print bed with a “concentric” initial layer pattern.

This is also the reason that the buttons are printed separately and glued to the cover plate.
The advantage here is that you can now print these together with the joystick in a 2 color combination, which I think gives a nice effect.

Additional hardware needed for assembly:
4x F-F M2,5 spacers, 10 mm lenght
4x M2,5 torx countersunk screw, 8 mm lenght (coverplate)
4x M2,5 torx countersunk screw, 8 mm lenght (bottom part)
(4x M2,5 nuts if used with the SeedSigner open pill case design)

If the cover plate with screw holes is used in the SeedSigner open pill case, some minor adjustments to the open pill case design will need to be made:
- 2 mm extra height for cover plate
- Use 4 pcs M2.5 nuts or modify the stl file of the open pill case design and make 4 recesses for the use of spacers and screws instead of the used cams.
- There is also a version of the cover plate that can be used without screws and can be mounted with a little glue if necessary.

personally i prefer using screws and spacers because this feels firmer than using a 3d-printed click system where you quickly have the chance of play and a less firm feeling.

The living hinge points are slightly shifted so that it is easier to choose between the buttons.

)

To get enough flexibility I made the thickness of the living hinge, 5 layers 0.15 = 0.75 mm.

The color combination black-orange is my favorit.
