I’ve posted this measuring cup, along with its FreeCAD design file, as a simple example for FreeCAD users. I made this 2/3-size laundry powder cup because the powder we buy comes with a larger measure and says to use 2/3 of the – unmarked – measure for High Efficiency washers like ours. One day I became tired of guessing how much powder to put in the larger measuring cup, and decided to make a simple replacement in FreeCAD.

3D printing settings

LaundryCup.stl is the measuring cup. Print this cup without supports or brim. You may need to adjust the infill or resolution for your particular printer.
LaundryCup.FCStd is the FreeCAD design file.
Print the cup as it is oriented in the STL file: with the cup facing upward.
I successfully printed this design in PolyLite PLA on my Lulzbot Mini printer, slicing it using Cura Lulzbot Edition set to the Lulzbot Mini Standard Resolution.
The FreeCAD file contains Sketches for BowlWalls (the cup walls), BaseAndHandle, and one of the two Buttresses that support the handle. It’s a relatively simple design, that illustrates FreeCAD basics. Once I was satisfied with the design, done in the Part Design Workbench, I switched to the Part Workbench, and made a Refine Shape copy for printing.
