3D model description

I designed this crossbow firstly for me: if a bad scenario happens when I'm hiking , and I would have to remain in the mountains for some days, this tool would help me hunt some small game like birds, rabbits or even catch fish.

I don't want to carry a full pistol crossbow because it takes a lot of space, it's heavy and I don't want other hikers to stare at me like I am a crazy hunter or something like that, so I wanted something lightweight, small, discrete and powerful.

It's a "last resort" type of tool, so it's designed to be rudimentar, but powerful and reliable:

  • It has only 700 grams , so you will carry it without effort (your backpack won't feel havier by much)

  • You can assemble it in 30 seconds, anywhere with your bare hands (it has 3 main pre-assembled parts that you can put togeter using 2 screws, no screwdriver or any other tool needed)

  • It fits everywhere because of it's small dimmensions (you can disassemble it in 3 main parts and put it in a bag, on your backpack, like I did)

  • It has a super strong strucutre (it was designed to resist at great forces so it's very important how you print the parts on the printing bed - check the last pictures)

  • Is it safe (you can disassemble it and store it safely so the kids can't hurt themselves if they find it)

  • You can mount a scope or a red dot on it (it comes with Picatinny rail)

  • It can be printed on any 220 x 220 mm printing bed or higher (I have a Creality Ender 3 and it fitted perfectly)

You will need:

  • M4 x 40 mm screws & hex nuts

  • M4 x 30 mm screws & hex nuts

  • A rubberband (for keeping the trigger in tension)

  • Slingshot latex tube

NOTE 1: Make sure you print the parts as shown in the last 3 pictures. If you want your crossbow to resist to great forces, make sure you position the right faces of the parts on the printer's bed.

NOTE 2: Make sure you have at least 1.8 mm wall thickness. (I used a 0.6 mm nozzle, so the wall was exactly 3 nozzle paths. You could use a 0.4 mm nozzle as well, just be sure you have enough wall thickness).

NOTE 3: Reduce Infill to 5% (a 10% or 20 % infill won't make the parts more resistent, just heavy, so it's safe to have it at 5%)

NOTE 4: Don't forget to use support for the central part of the crossbow ( 6. Cross Main Part (x1).stl ). The other parts don't require support.

3D printing settings

  • 0.4 mm nozzle or 0.6 mm nozzle,

  • make sure you have at least 1.8mm wall thickness,

  • you can use only 5% infill

  • when you print the middle part (6. Cross Main Part (x1).stl), use support
