3D model description

And finally here's the winch mechanism to round off the earlier parts of the Decepticons' underwater base elevator set ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/62145746 & https://www.patreon.com/posts/62535962 )

This set comes with the top lid which caps on top of the Elevator, and has a main mechanism on an axle which can be rotated to either raise or lower the elevator itself. On the other end, a 'loop' piece secures onto the elevator with everything connecting up with some string or cable.

This set has a twin-cable design intended to help keep the round elevator from spinning around in the elevator shaft. Rotating the gear will turn the spinner piece, which has the twin strings or cables wrapped around it. These pieces all connect to the top lid using a washer piece with two guide holes to keep the strings separate and tangle free.

Turning it carefully to lift the occupants of the lift is advised, so as to not topple the tower inadvertently. Once the elevator car has reached the top, the gear which was turned can be pushed into the mount and locked in place.

=== Assembly ===

The attached diagram shows all the parts involved in this kit, and here are some things to note for putting it together:

  • It is recommended to use a piece of string or cable which is slightly over twice as long as the height of the tower you are putting together.
  • Looping the string back upon itself, tie the two ends to the "Lift_TopLoop" piece. This part will fit snugly over the top of the elevator from earlier.
  • With the loop of the cable, pass it through (in this order) - the "Top_Cap", the "Mount" and the "Washer" piece, before doing a cow hitch around the "Spinner" and securing the end of the loop into the notch of the piece. Here's what the cow hitch looks like --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_hitch#/media/File:Cowhitch_in_loop.png

Once done, raise and lower the elevator with as many Decepticons as you like!

===

As usual - hope everyone has fun 3d printing and putting this mechanism into your own Decepticon elevators then! =)
