I'm happy to announce that I just finished and uploaded the very first expansion pack, the Dungeon Blox Doors Pack.

To celebrate this event, both the Starter Pack and the Doors Pack have been available for $1 each for 10 days (i.e. until Sat, July 30, 08:00 AM GMT).

Introduction

Since the beginning of Dungeon Crawlers - roleplaying, tabletop or board- and computer games - there were projects for bringing the dungeons into the three-dimensional physical world to give the already well estabished mini figures a place to explore.

I remember an advertising for pre-made resin rooms on the backside of the first Citadal Compendium around '85 (I would be gratgeful if someone can tell me the name of this company - have forgotten it long since).

A brand active today (and for quite some time now) that I really admire would be Hirst Arts, and there are many more, including printable versions.

And then there are Construction Block toys. The big L still rules the world of bricks, but in the last decades many competitors have stepped forward with bricks of really worthwile quality.

Construction Bricks set free the fantasy with their endless combinations.

Construction Bricks offer an ingeniouslyely practical set of norms that provides the compability for all sorts of construction and combination possiblities.

Now it's time to take the best of both worlds and put it together to make something new that's more than the sum of its parts:

**Description

Attention: All files are provided without supports, because - as you probably know very well - different printer models require different supports, plus, many hobbyists prefer to add them themselves, anyway. But if there is demand, I will upload models with supports - so drop a comment/PN.

I also would like you to know that the price is based on 5 US$. The website seems to use €, so the price changes automatically every day according to the exchange value, and I set it back to 5$ whenever I'm online, so please don't let the slight up-and down of the price confuse you.

In Dungeon Blox, there are three major groups of pieces:

Blocks to build the walls, Tiles to layout floors, and Bases to build the underlaying structure. In addition, there are special pieces like doors, stairs etc.

Blocks:

The principal blocks to build the walls.

These blocks have the typical studs and the standard measurements of constructoin toy bricks, so you can build structures from them. They are compatible to all standard construction blocks.

In general, to keep the thicknesses in scale of walls for 28 mm miniatures, blocks are always 1 stud (8 mm) wide, but come in different lengths. Bricks in other dimensions will be produced, but the term "blocks" will be restricted to the 1 stud wide wall bricks.

Nomenclature:

"Block" + Material Name + length (number of studs) + ID (if there is more than one version) + file extension

It's a wall block, Material is rough brownstone, it's a 1x3 studs piece, and it is the first (a) of two variants.

All is saved in a .stl file (normally both .stl and .obj versions will be provided)

All blocks in the Starter Pack are rough brownstone, which gives a nice, dungeon-like atmosphere.

Other materials will be available soon in other downloads, the next one will include bricks and masonwork.

Tiles

Square tiles to cover the floor.

These are not just decorative, but provide a grid to play the game. Many dungeon crawler board and table games use a grid to resolve movement, combat situations, line of sight etc. for the figurines.

Dungeon Blox use a basic grid of squares measuring 3x3 studs = 24mm, wich for all practical purposes can be considered an inch (25,4mm). The size looks well with 28mm figures and most standard figure bases fit in. It is still larger (and thus better to handle) than the grid of Heroquest (probably the most well known and well loved of all classic dungeon crawling board games).

It is also exactly the lenght of a passus (doublestep = 1 step with each foot), considering a 30mm figure represents a 1,75m (5'3'') human and his steps are of avarage length (most "28mm" figures are around 30mm high, 28 is meant as the eye-height), which is logical, as players often throw dice to calculate the "steps" a figure can move.

The Dungeon Blox tiles are designed to show well visible regular squares while still looking natural.

Nomenclature:

"Tile" + Material Name + size (X by Y studs) + ID (if there is more than one version) + file extension

It's a floor tile, Material is Stone A, it's a 3x3 studs plate, and it is the second (b) of four variants.

All is saved in a .stl file.

All blocks in the Starter Pack are Stone A, a stone with smooth surface, which could for example represent marble or granite, depending on the paintjob.

Other materials will be available soon in other downloads, the next one will include wood and brick floorings.

Bases

Bases are massive blocks the size of 3x3 studs and five standard blocks in height. They are intended to be put under the tiles to provide a raised surface for the game. This way, one can include pits, wells, downwards stairs etc., that fit well in the gaming grid.

There are special bases to help constructing special forms of sunken patterns - see the pit trap below.

The *gen*eric, solid base

BasePittrapa

A Base piece to build a pittrap. Put it in place of a normal base. A standard floor tile will fit and hold on it, making it practically invisible. Pressing at a corner with one finger will lift up the opposing corner so it can be easily taken away to reveal the pit (see image 14).

Door:

The pack includes an openable wooden Door, consisting of two models:

A generic, plain door frame. 3 studs wide and 4 blocks high, fitting for 28 mm figurines. "Rect" refers to the rectangular shape (there will be arched doors in later extensions), "a" means variant a (there will also be rectangular door frames with structured surfaces).

Well, it's a rectangular wooden door.

The door features two bolts, fitting into two holes in the frame, so it can be opened and closed. I would be very interested how the mechanics work out on different priters, so pleas give me some feedback.

*Wall Toppers

These are flat pieces to cover the studs on the top of the walls. As the blocks, they are all one stud wide, but come in different lengths:
