"Some of the most deadly and evil creatures in the Menagerie lie below the sands. The sand hag is one of the three sisters of shavir. This trio of hags rule The Menagerie from the shadows, pulling the strings from behind the schenes. They have recently come under the influence of Melphius (as have many denizens of the lands). Under his influence, they have been helping to spread the creeping corruption throughout the lands. Their end goal is to weaken the magical bonds that are imprisoning the Sazzath and Melpius to unleash them upon the world.
Sand hags in particular are dangerour because you don't normally see them coming. They lie in wait quietly below the sands, luring potential victims in with illusions like an oasis. small settlement or some other source of much needed respite from the otherwise harsh environment of The Menagerie. Sometimes the hags will whisper into adventurers ears, telling them exactly what they want to hear to lure them into their lair. Onve you feel the Sand Hag's hand reach up and grab your leg, it is too late.
Sand hags are able to travel below the sands very quickly. Their goal is to grab an enemy, grapple them and pull them beneath the sand where she will drag them to her lair, or simply eat them for food."
