3D model description

Print-in-Place Cuban Link Chain

This Cuban link chain is printed in place, no supports or assembly required!

At the original scale, the chain is 28mm (1.1") wide, 800mm (31.5") long, and prints in a circle that uses 276x276mm of the print bed.

The chain can be scaled down slightly, but be aware of the clearances required for the chain to articulate. Slicer's horizontal size compensation or XY compensation can also be used to shrink the links and increase clearances.

3D printing settings

Ensure your printer is able to print with good bed adhesion.

There are slight (but forgiving) overhangs, good part cooling would improve print quality.

  • 0.15mm or smaller layer heights are recommended for a better surface finish.
  • 4 or more perimeters are preferred.
  • Infill is not necessary, but 18% is recommended.
  • No supports are required.

If your nozzle height is not set perfectly, this could result in slightly fused chain links on the first layer. Simply bend them and they should come loose.
