3D model description

It all started with the fact that we needed a handle for our new garden door. So just to be on the safe side I decided to make a few extra designs...

So here is a full set of door handles and knobs with plates, the (somewhat vintage) style of which - at least where we live - is called 'Old Vienna'. Essentially this is designed for use with lock bodies with a lock spacing (i.e. distance between cylinder/lock holes and handle hole) of 58 to 92 mm (if you use the single plates) or pretty much any other size and lock if you use the separate plates provided.

  • This is what the lock bodies we use look like: 72 mm lock bodies or 85 mm lock bodies
  • The lock cylinders are standard 32 mm cylinders.

They come in a number of different flavors for design and size (and feel free to combine them any way you need them):

  • With single back plate (with back plate in 58, 72, 85, and 92 mm lock spacing for standard 32 mm cylinders)
  • With separate back plates for handle and lock (any lock spacing and you can of course use each on its own)
  • Separate back plates come in a simple round and a traditional version
  • For standard 32 mm lock cylinders and for simple old fashioned key locks (with lock cover)
  • With large handle or with a good old fashioned door knob
  • The handle comes in a right and left version

For the handle and knob you will need to print an 8 mm rod. I have included 50, 70, and 90 mm versions but you can simply scale this to any length you need and you can of course use commercial metal rods (which may be preferable if you want it to be really strong). Either glue the rods into the handle/knob on both sides or attach with a small screw (holes provided).

PRINTING. This should be a simple print. Everything is designed to be printable without supports (e.g. the handles have a flat bottom, so they will lie flat on the printer bed). Print with high percentage (50+) infill.
- Print the rods in something really strong. I use Carbon Fiber PLA.
- Print the plates, handle and knob in something shiny metallic, e.g. Silk Silver or Gold.
