3D model description

Scorpion Golems are created as representations of the mythological giant scorpions that are said to guard the entrance to the Nehekharian Underworld. Apparently, these creatures of legend protect the Realm of Souls from predators such as Demons, who seek to feed on the spirits of dead kings.

Scorpion Golems also serve as sarcophagi, as their casing is formed around the cadaverous body of an ancient Tomb Priest. For unknown reasons, some of these priests do not respond to the Songs of Awakening and end up falling into what is known as the Sleep of the Dead. However, it is not entirely certain that these beings are really dead, since the power that their skeletal bodies exude can still be felt. Although Tomb Priests are not capable of dying normally, many of them have died from wounds sustained in battle. Those who do are embalmed and encased inside a Scorpion Golem.

The canopic vessels containing his vital organs (or what remains of them) are also introduced inside the body of the Scorpion Golem, following a ritual model that symbolizes the process of death. In addition, at least a small ember of the Tomb Priest's spirit is always trapped within his mummified body, and these embers are "enlivened" by various enchantments to imbue the inanimate husks of Scorpion Golems with energy. On the other hand, this source of mystical energy provides the Scorpion Golems with a certain degree of protection against enemy sorcerers, whose lightning and magical attacks are scattered and absorbed by the golem's shell without causing the slightest damage.

Scorpion Golems are decorated with multiple preservation hieroglyphics, and activated through a reanimation ceremony performed by a Tomb Priest.

If this ceremony is carried out correctly, the Scorpion Golem will be imbued with the residual power of the corpse that dwells within it. The ritual is exceptionally complex, lasting from moonrise to the first rays of dawn. The slightest mistake (for example, a mistake in pronouncing a word in one of the chants) can have terrible consequences; for example, a swarm of Undead scorpions can emerge from the desert to sting the Tomb Priest to death, or a group of evil spirits can manifest out of nowhere to rip out his entrails and eat them. At the very least, what is certain is that the ritual will have failed and recitation will have to be started again from the beginning.
