Saint Maximilliano, The Divine Lich
In the lost golden city of Absentia, chosen undead are worshipped and treated as royalty. The undead populace are commanded by His Holiness, Saint Maximilliano - The Grand Pontiff of Absentia, The Anointed One and The Last Saint of Margo.
Saint Maximilliano is a towering figure that looms over his disciples as their shepherd. His Holiness is always dressed in ceremonial vestments and priceless pieces of jewellery that show off his immense wealth. His old anointed wraps have long since faded and no long hide his withered arms or impaled hands. His headpiece is adorned with thorns to show the suffering he must endure for his disciples and that suffering is what must come before ascension. Behind his head an ornamental halo stands. The upper half of his face is hidden beneath a metal face plate, but his jaw and bare chest reveal his true nature.
Saint Maximilliano is a powerful undead, one of the most powerful forms of undeath - a lich. It’s not known if he is still truly blessed by his goddess or simply uses his magic to emulate his miracles. Either way, he is a master of the arcane arts and divine incantations. The story of his ascension to sainthood claimed his life, within a few days he walked into to the Grand Cathedral - Wrapped in anointed cloth and blessed with eternal undeath.
In the rare instance that he must combat a foe in martial combat, he will summon his divine ceremonial blade and scepter. Some have described as his holy blade as a weapon used by a Solar - infused with divine flames.

The Grand Pontiff has few subjects that he would trust with his safety. Knighthood in Absentia is to join his military, The Perpetual Order. An undead legion of devout soldiers clad in ornate armour and infused with the magic of their Saint.
The upper echelons of The Perpetual Order include those most devout. Only the most devout are chosen to serve him directly, but such an honour comes at a terrible price.
