3D model description

I found this fantastic CAD-model of a Foden steam lorry made by Andy Scriven:

https://grabcad.com/library/4-1-2-foden-steam-lorry

and couldn’t resist to adapt it to n-scale. Of course there was a lot to simplify in order to make it printable and not much of the original model survived – What a pity! If you realy want to understand how such a steam car works, I strongly recommend to download the original model and to analyse it in any CAD-program. There are a lot of internals to explore.

And of course I created a version fitting to my “origin of intermodal transport”-theme, based on an still existing Type HH- steam lorry of Bishop's Move:
https://www.bishopsmove.com/historic-vehicles-for-hire/ (just google pictures for “Foden type HH”) ,
so you can use it with my railroad furniture containers.

The complete version is just for overview. For better painting you should print separate parts.
From the many pictures I learned, that the trucks were built with left and right rule, so you can select both.
There are also original wheels and the ones with tyres and the forward wheels can be printed straight or turning left/right. Finally there is a driver (left/right rule version) and for a special carriage with open door (only right rule version) you may also print a driver, just entering the cap.

For a complete model you need:
1x One version of carriage (LR, RR oder RR with open door)
2x aft wheels (with tyres or without)
1x fore wheels (with tyres/without and left, straight or right)
1x roof
1x driver (if you want)

All models sized for British n-scale (1:148).

Conversion values:
Continental N-scale, 1:160 -> 92.5%
TT-gauge, 1:120 -> 123%
HO-gauge, 1:87 -> 170%
OO-gauge, 1:76 -> 195%
