Life on that planet stopped making sense to him. The scientist saw it coming, soon it wouldn’t be habitable, so he had to manage to travel to another planet, or dimension.
Could it be that in a parallel universe a version of himself had managed to find a cure for the destruction of his world? He didn't care if it wasn't like that, because at least he would have someone to have a decent talk with. And speaking of talking with someone, it occurred to him to create a robot who could activate the portal, as a kind of guide, because he had gotten bored of talking to the screens.
One day he took his things and activated the portal. If the portal didn't work, well, at least he had fun doing it.
