3D model description

The humerus is a bone in the upper arm that connects the shoulder joint to the elbow joint. It is the longest and largest bone of the upper limb. The humerus has several anatomical features and regions, including the following:

Proximal end: This is the top portion of the humerus that connects to the shoulder joint. It consists of the head, anatomical neck, and surgical neck. The head is rounded and articulates with the glenoid fossa of the scapula to form the shoulder joint. The anatomical neck is the constriction below the head, while the surgical neck is a common site for fractures.

Shaft: The shaft of the humerus is the long, tubular portion that extends from the proximal end to the distal end. It has several important structures, such as the deltoid tuberosity (attachment site for the deltoid muscle) and the radial groove (location of the radial nerve).

Distal end: This is the bottom portion of the humerus that connects to the elbow joint. It includes the medial and lateral epicondyles, which are bony projections on either side. The trochlea, located on the medial side, articulates with the ulna bone of the forearm. The capitulum, on the lateral side, articulates with the radius bone of the forearm.

A model of humerus anatomy can be a representation or visualization tool to study and understand the various structures and features of the humerus bone. These models can be physical, such as plastic or 3D printed models, or digital, such as virtual or interactive models used in educational or medical settings. These models help in learning about bone landmarks, articulations, muscle attachments, and potential injury sites.
