Urbanassault

Billy joe bob was just a kid when he inherited the Urbanmech of his father. Growing up on the family farm, he was always tinkering with it, trying to make it better and better.
The Periphery planet he resided on had a shortage of mech parts tho and he simply could not turn it into a better mech that it already was.
When Pirates atteacked the local town, the defending mechs, which were beaten old light mechs with dubious weapon technology, surrendered long before Billy could arrive with his Urbanmech. The Pirates then looted the town, kidnapped a few people and then left the planet. Billy was of course saddened by this and hid the urbanmech in his barn out of shame that he wasn't able to help defending the town.

One day while driving around his hover pickup in the deep country side where noone lived he found a crashed Leopard. When it crashed and how long it sat there was unknown and billy did not recognise any of the markings on the ship. He broke open one of the doors to the inside and found weird machinery and mechs that he never even saw pictures of or heard about.
All of the mechs and machines inside were destroyed save for a few parts and weapons.
For the next few months, billy would drive back and forth from his barn and the crashsite trying to salvage as much as he can. Every night for the next 2 years he spent in the barn with glowing eyes and a grin on his face.

4 years after the first Pirate atteck, they once again came back to loot and kidnap. The planet was just a periphery planet without a militia that worth the mention, so for them it was just a small stop to their next target.
Everything seemed normal, just like a typical raid on a backwater Planet. The Pirate mech lance didnt expect much resistence so they went straight into town to cause havoc.
When the Pirate Blackjack detected a Fusion engine signature popping up nearby the pilot started to grin. He finally would have a fight against another mech and maybe he could even score some salvage that would be worth something. So he turned around without notifying the rest of the lance and headed to the big corn silo where he detected the signature. "you cant hide from me" the pirate thought to himself. Ready to striek down any resistance fighter he steered his blackjack around the silo.

The other lance would only hear a deafening explosion nearby and when they looked at where it came from they saw the Black jack falling backwards with a big hole where its cockpit would be. Slowly Billy steered his mech around the Silo. The Pirates didn't know what they were seeing. It was Monster out of some nightmare at first sight.
They pulled themselfes together to engage it in combat. The Pirate mechs were going to encircle Billy. They thought that wathever this thing is they can take it out.
It was 3 vs 1 afterall. Billys old Urbanmech, which now was a 100 ton assault mech, pointed his arm at one enemy mech, which was a panther. When he pulled the trigger on it, the LBX-20 Autocannon on the arm fired. The Swarm of Projectiles that came out of the cannon ripped off the panthers head at once. Whoever Piloted it literally turned into dust. With only 2 mechs to go Billy focused on the Hunchback. Billy was sure that this must have been their commander.
The Hunchback fired its massive autocannon and almost hit billy in the left leg. When billy answered with his autocannon he managed to hit the Hunchbacks right torso, disabling its autocannon completely. Now feeling like he is in a position of ultimate power, billy advanced slowly towards the Hunchback ignoring the other light mech that was trying to get around his rear. The Pirates Commander who indeed was the Pilot of the hunchback was sweating heavily. How is this possible? This wasnt supposed to happen at all.
How can a Periphery Backwater Planet have such a machine? What even was this machine? He had seen Urbanmechs before but this was something else.
Starting to panic, the pirate commander fired off the remaining lasers. Barely scratched by this, billy thought that he might answer the same way.
He fired off all 6 Medium lasers of his machine and melted off the front armor of the hunchback. After that he raised his arm and fired his autocannon.
Dozens projectiles entered the front of the hunchback, penetrateds its fusion core and came out the other side.
For a brief moment the Hunchback turned into a very bright Star.

Embracing the moment for a small bit, billy suddenly felt something hitting his rear. The Light mech, a tinger has gotten around him and was trying to break into his rear armor.
What the stinger pilot did not know was that the monster that he fought, was still an urbanmech. The Pilots face almost melted when he saw the torso of this monster turn all the way around to look him straight into the eyes. "Nice try", billy thought as he fired off both cannons at the same time. "Goddamnit", the Pilot thought moments before he was torn to millions of pieces.

On this day, the Town was successfully defended. What happened on this day quickly was knwon around pirate forces around the periphery. The stories very often exaggerated.
But Billys homeplanet was safe. None of the Pirates dared to land on this planet anymore as they all saw the pictures of the destroyed Pirate mechs and blurry Video footage of what was a Monster of a Mech.
Billy spent his days tending to his farm and tinkering with machines with the Urbanassault sitting in the barn, ready to be reactivated once again when needed.
