Populate your tabletop gaming with the Solmundis creature from Sol'Kesh.

"Rising to the height of a large dog the solmundis slinks through marshes and wetlands, its long sharpened tongue tucked into its odd jaw-less mouth. This amphibian, like its smaller salamander cousins, needs a wet environment to survive and because of its large size often rests in shallow ponds or in the muddy silt of swamps, awaiting the sounds of incoming prey. Evolving a powerful harpoon-like tongue that became too large and long to fit within its mouth, the bottom jaw receded to simple vestigial bones that rest beneath the jaw. Through the use of a highly sensitive tympanum beneath a thin layer of porous flesh, the solmundis can sense nearby prey while deep in the mud and silt. When prey draws near it will explode with motion, lashing out its bladed tongue a full four meters to impale and embed its barb deep into the creature, quickly retracting it back into its awaiting needle toothed maw."
