Pool Umbrella Stabilizer Sleeve Reducer Adapter Basketball

The standard AquaStar 5" SMUSxxx umbrella stand sleeve fits a pole diameter of 1.675”. I made an adapter reducing the hole size to 1.5”, plus a little 1.0mm wiggle room.

We have six umbrella sleeves which work great for placing umbrellas around the pool to get shade. However, if the umbrella pole size isn’t 1.675” they can get a little wobbly. This isn’t a big problem with umbrellas, but if we wanted to mount other accessories we needed an adapter.

I found several budget basketball hoops (affiliate links below) with 1.5” center poles and wanted to see if I could design an adapter with my limited 3d modeling skills. Finding the AquaStar dimensions on the vendor site and using Fusion 360 to model was pretty straightforward.

AquaStar 5" SMUSxxx dimensions (make sure you have the same one):

Using the following conversion chart, adding 1.0mm to the Inner Diameter (ID), and subtracting 0.1mm to the Outside Diameters (OD) for tolerance.

It took me a few revisions but only about 30-60min of time invested modeling in Fusion 360. The shape is overall very simple only being a few circles extruded to different lengths, and a few filets to polish it off.

I personally wanted to use the adapter for a cheap basketball hoop I found online which had a 1.5" pole. I had no intention to use the base or bottom poles. I've found a few others online that will probably also work (affiliate links below). As long as the pole measures 1.5" it should work.

This was printed on my modified Anycubic i3 Mega with a 0.4mm nozzle
- 100% infill
- 0.2mm layer height
- Filament
- Testing: Matterhackers Build Series PLA (Grey / Royal Blue)
- Final: Overture PETG (Light Gray / Space Gray)
