3D model description

This File contains the Basic Files for building a whole Boarding Actions terrain. For extra files, check out the Space Wreck Terrain Set Collection. More info on the terrain set in the Kickstarter Campaign page.

++++

This is a multipart model with mechanisms that prints in place, no need for assembly.

++++

I created this terrain set with a particular goal in mind: print the Boarding Actions terrain set without spending 200$ in the process.

I know this design is NOT the most detailed out there. There are a couple of artists that have sucessfully reproduced GW joint system and level of detail... But those designs were not thougt for the needs of filament printers, nor with economy and ease of print in mind.

The Boarding Actions or Killteam terrain consists of a LOT of pieces of terrain. If you try to print all that in resin, you are going to feel it in your bags. The Space Wreck terrain set prints in about 70h in my BambuLab P1P, and eats up 1.4kg of PLA (roughly 23€ for me). If you only want the KT half, those ammounts are halved.

If you try to print any other design that has not been optimized to print without supports nor infill... You're going to end up paying a lot of money in plastic. And if you try to print the terrain set in resin ... RIP your wallet.

I believe that this Boarding Actions terrain set is one the cheapest to print out there, and strikes a nice balance of printability, time and material savings, and nice aesthetic vibe.

++++

Anyhow, am thrilled to bring you this terrain set, specially designed to be compatible with the Boarding Actions game mode, but also with other game systems such as Killteam, Warcry, or dungeon based RPGs such as DnD or Rogue trader.

The terrain is comprised of a set of walls, pillars and detail pieces, that connect using a calibrated sliding joint, and allow for the creation of modular maps following a 4x4 inches grid, suitable to recreate the grimdark atmosphere of the intricate abandoned corridors of a derelict gothic spaceship.

Still, if you would prefer a more detailed version, I GOT YOU COVERED! As this was part of a Kickstarter Campaign, I have plenty more desings available, check them in the Space Wreck Terrain Set Collection

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️

Print the files "CALIBRATION_LOOSE.stl" "CALIBRATION_PILLAR.stl" "CALIBRATION_TIGHT.stl" first, so you can figure out witch set of files to print. Only print the files you need: either the LOOSE or TIGHT version of the files!

++++

These were print-tested in PLA with the following print settings:

Printer: Bambu Lab P1p 0.4 Nozzle

First Layer Speed 50 mm/s
Outer Wall Speed 200 mm/s
Inner Wall Speed 300 mm/s
Top Surface Speed 50 mm/s
Overhang Speed 50 mm/s
Supports Disabled
Brim Disabled
Layer Height 0.34
First Layer Height 0.34
First Layer Line Width 0.5
Outer Wall Line Width 0.4
Inner Wall Line Width 0.45
Top Surface Line Width 0.42
Wall Loops 2
Top Shell Layers 3
Bottom Shell Layers 3
Infill 0%

You can probably notice that the layer height is quite high, showing visible layers. This is because I want to be honest and show how this pieces look printed with a fast setting, without compromising the quality or the aesthetic. Let's be real: not everybody has time to print 90+ pieces in the highest quality settings.

For me, the whole terrain set was printed in under 3.5 days (something like 70h). Asking around, I have gathered that some of the Boarding Action STL terrain sets currently available out there print in 500+ hours, witch, for me at least, is untenable.
