3D model description

Summary

These parts are for JayBee's excellent Gun4IR project (https://github.com/JayBee-git/GUN4IR) which lets you create your own DIY lightgun with an IR camera, microcontroller, and 4 IR beacons. Go check it out, it rules.

These parts will help you build a Gun4IR from a Nerf Alphapoint Laser Ops Pro toy gun, which is cheap and comes in packs of two. Personally I prefer to use toys like this instead of any irreversible modifications to CRT light guns like the Namco Guncon/2/3, since those will only get more and more hard to find.

There are three parts included:

  1. A mount for the Arduino Pro Micro that lets you screw it in place using the same mount as the original controller PCB. This is based on the Arduino Leonardo Pro Box (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:320421) Thank you!

  2. A double-sided threaded lens adapter that centers the DFRobot Gravity IR camera, lets you securely screw it in (no need for the hex nuts any more) as well as screw in a wide angle lens to the front side. Two different thread options for different brands of cell phone camera lenses provided.

  3. A replacement muzzle cap. The original is epoxied in place very strongly, and you may like me damage the cap and surrounding plastic getting it removed. This cap will replace the original and cover up damage.
