3D model description

Long overdue update: I’ll reevaluate thingiverse hosting if it has stabilized. For a significant period of time, I couldn’t post, edit, or update files, downloads wouldn’t work, and the site was just totally unstable. On top of that, piracy ran rampant and I have found several of my and other creators’ non-commercial works offered for sale around the web. However this and other of my designs on thingiverse are all largely outdated, and so for private use only I will rehost their original file sets. If you like what I do and want to support me continuing to do it, check out the etsy; I use earnings from that to justify buying filament, hardware, and printers to continue to design and build blasters.

Thank you for your support.

Update 08/26/19: Added the experimental "XL" files for a dual-cage setup. Currently designed for OFP riot; any stryfoid should fit.

An Ultrasonic2 has released an ultracage (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3298335) specifically for this blaster

Major Change 111218: Changed name of blaster to "Streaker", as it's designed to be a stryfoid blaster and my SN is "Meaker". Use the "flywheel cage-cage cover 11/12/18" file for the new name, or use one you've archived elsewhere because I've deleted all the ones that had "Meaker" on them. Thanks MrHeathpants!

ANOTHER Major Change 111418: Added the experimental 1911 gripset. This changes the grip to one styled after a 1911 grip, but more importantly, seperates the grip from the mech frame housing. If this fileset works it will allow me to more easily support a variety of pusher mechs, specifically a solenoid. Currently the fileset does not include katana support, and while I've included all the files for a whole blaster in the zip it should not require reprinting of any of the flywheel/flywheel cage-cage components, pusher lever, pic rail, or magwell top. This file set has not been tested, but includes the solid bodies as usual.

This is a redraw of Markmarx1066's Freigewehr V-1 Nerf Blaster. It is designed as a semi-auto magfed flywheel system at present, though in the future I'd like to expand the system to accept other feed methods and firing modes. I've adjusted it to accept Open Flywheel Project cages, look different, and print more readily on smaller machines (the largest dimension should be less than 6"/150mm except the pic rail which should fit diagonally on a 6"x6"/150mmx150mm machine). While it has been tested, I have made extensive changes based on that test and there may be issues in the current version I am unaware of.

I usually print with 1.6-2.0mm shells, .2mm-.28mm layers (with a 0.4mm nozzle), 20% infill. This was designed to not need much support or adhesion help, but YMMV. My understanding of printed part strength is that larger nozzles with larger layers are better for structural use, though again, YMMV.

Orientation shown for each of the parts may not be ideal, adjust to my suggested orientation, your machine, or preference.

And MWFIC3d has kindly provided a pictoral assembly guide on reddit here

A note on batteries; there is room for a small-medium battery above the magwell. There is no provision given for retaining that battery in the space, this is because anything I draw would take away from the space available or possibly interfere with the flywheel cage guide. Foam padding should be fit to your battery and the tray to protect and retain the battery. Current tray with hatch is an experimental untested WIP after recieving comments about needing a tray, please verify it holds prior to use and let me know (preferably on Nerfhaven or reddit) if it doesn't.

Annotated Printed Partslist:

All parts print with the most flat side down unless noted otherwise.

New Parts 111218

  • Auto Kit.zip : Based directly on the Nerf Automatic Pusher (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2980651) by [Kuryaka], but built into the mk15 frame. Replaces the entire grip section of the Mk15, this has been printed and tested by MFWIC3D but is still something of a prototype. Also see this worm gear (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2551136) which MFWIC3D used instead of the purchased one Kuryaka recommended. Use the "Auto Pusher Katana" file for the adapter magwell. Update modifies trigger and grip frame to allow use of spring in trigger.

  • Kathanha Magwell.zip: Requires the use of the KaThanha Mags (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3069519) by Thanhtacles (https://www.thingiverse.com/Thanhtacles/about), or careful modding of Katana Mags, because the Mk15 doesn't have the space for the release to work with the regular Katana mag release slot. Replaces the regular magwell, pic rail, magwell covers, and magwell plate. Uses the regular release. Note - although it shortens the blaster up by an inch and a half to ~9" overall (without stock mount), it also eats up that room that could be used by batteries. It'll be harder to source an onboard solution for powering this shorty blaster. This has not been tested yet. Should work with regular pushers since the whole pusher group moves forward 1.5". New 11/12/18 version has downward release as an option; I may be able to make it compatible with standard katana mags in the future.

  • Adapter Magwell.zip: This is a full-length sized version of the above, but with a kathanha mag opening. It requires its own release and one of the extended pushers but otherwise should just drop into where the magwell is now. This has not been tested yet.

  • Magwell Plate.stl: This sits on top of the magwell and keeps stuff (eg: batteries, electronics) from falling into it. It's basically just a rectangle, but enough people asked that I made one.

  • Grip_Frame.stl: The main assembly of the whole blaster. The pusher, trigger, rev trigger, grip cover, pic rail, (optional) stock cap, magwell, and magwell covers bolt to or are assembled in this.

  • Trigger.stl: The main trigger. Updated 11/12/18 for optional trigger spring.

  • Pusher.stl: Bolted to the lever arm, the blaster, and provided an extension return spring, this will push the darts into the wheels when the trigger is depressed and return to it's start position when not.

  • Pusher Katana Forward.stl: Experimental file for short-dart "Katana" mag users. This extends the pusher ~1.5"/36mm. It will require a means of pushing the katana all the way to the front of the existing magwell. I investigated making a katana-compatible magwell but it'd require redesigning the grip frame and mag release for at best ~1.5"/36mm of overall length reduction.

  • LeverArm.stl: Bolts to the pusher and to the blaster, slots into the trigger.

  • RevTrigger.stl: Drops into the grip frame. May require an additional return spring if your switch isn't strong enough to push it alone.

  • Grip_Cover_v1.stl: Covers the internals in the grip. Should print smooth outer side down.

  • Stock_Cap.stl: Optional & experimental piece that should allow NERF-style stocks to attach to the blaster. Has a punchable hole in it for wiring.

  • Pic_Rail.stl: Structural piece that slots into the flywheel cage-cage and bolts to the grip frame. Printed to tolerance, it should fit standard picatinny airsoft/nerf/real-steel accessories. Also has an integral iron sight. Should be printed pic-side down. This is the longest piece and may need to print diagonally on smaller machines.

  • Magwell.stl: Structural piece that slots and bolts into the flywheel cage-cage and grip frame. Print standing up. Updated 11/12/18, should accept either style of release now (old upward style or new downward style). Use an extension spring (same as caliburn release spring; "*9654K973 - Steel Extension Spring with Loop Ends, Music-Wire, 1" Long, 0.25" OD, 0.023" Wire, 12 pack") attached to the release and a bolt through the magwell where the old release went.

  • ClipRelease.stl: Combined with magwell, this allows NERF-brand (or similar) N-strike Clips to lock into the blaster. Should also work with off-brand mags. Origional version shown in pictures; new release is down and more out of the way.

    • Mag release V2.stl: Release for the lower-side release option.
  • Magwell_Cover_L.stl & Magwell_Cover_R.stl (new Magwell Cover L Screw): UPDATED 07/07/18 One of these is meant to be structural, the other should be possible to remove without disassembly. They are now the same mirrored about the center, enlarged slightly for a little more battery room. Screw cover should fit the screw down hatch, recommend taping or gluing nut down. Should fit a knurled-head m3x6 or so thumb screw, cutting down a regular stryfe-style battery screw should work.

  • Magwell_Cover_L_Screw: should allow a standard battery box screw (m3x12 knurled-head thumbscrew) to fit. May require nut to be glued/taped down, and a shorter screw will be needed (whether purchased or cut down). OLD 061818 Magwell_Cover_L_Hatch & Battery Hatch: Experimental files that should allow you to access the battery area tool-free. If the latch won't work, I can make a thumbscrew version.

  • Updated 062818 Barrel_Lug 062818.stl: An optional part that should allow you to attach NERF-brand or compatible faux barrels for optimal tactics. Also just looks good IMO. It should print with the screw recesses down, the hexagonal cutout should allow a GEN2 OFP cage to press fit onto it. The screws should still be used to ensure accurate positioning and strength, may require drilling to fit. The older file is retained for those who have printed the older version of the FWC-Cage or barrel.

  • Updated 062818 FLYWHEEL_CAGE-CAGE 062818.stl: Front end structure. Attaches to pic rail, magwell, and the magwell covers. Then insert a flywheel cage, may need to be wired in place. After the cage is installed, wired, and wheeled, add flywheel cage-cover and a motor cover of your choice. The older file is retained for those who have printed the older version of the FWC-Cage or barrel. The new FWC-Cage is NOT compatible with the old version, the screw posts have been moved forward to make room for an Ultrastryfe cage to fit without modification.

  • Updated 081918 FLYWHEEL_CAGE-COVER 81818.stl: The cover for the flywheel cage. Attaches to the flywheel cage-cage, magwell, and magwell covers. The new FWC-Cage is NOT compatible with the old version, the screw posts have been moved forward to make room for an Ultrastryfe cage to fit without modification. Minor update 081918 to fix fitment/cleanup issue with prior version. If you printed the 062818 version, you'll need to file away one of the screw ports to fit it to the rest of the cover.

    • Motor_Cover_Short.stl & motor_Cover.stl: You only need one of these. Motor cover short should fit 130 and 132 sized motors, motor cover should fit 180 sized motors. These are the only parts I expect to need support, printed flange-side down (outside/visible side up).
  • Switchholder: A part provided by /u/MFWIC3D to hold the switch in place in the grip.

Non-printed Hardware:

  • A small extension and compression spring. Working on specc'ing this out, but I usually find something that works in a box of assorted small springs. Finding something at a hardware store that will work shouldn't be hard.

  • A handful of nuts & bolts. I drew it sized so that M3x50's would fit most everything, but #4-40x1-1/2" to 2" should also work and there's room to bore most of the holes out. Flywheel cage mounting may require a different size as it was determined by stock blaster configurations.

  • To watch the MTB Stryfe wiring guide (removed formatting and link because thingiverse wanted to put the video at the front of the image stream)

  • Motors

  • Xt60 (Sub for your connector if your lipo isn't an Xt60, or carefully resolder your lipo - NEVER CROSS THE STREAMS! - so it is)

  • Wire

  • Heat Shrink

  • Switch (Genuine Omron Switch )

  • Flywheel Cages

  • And Wheels: Artifact, OOD Insutanto, Worker, CC Cyclone

  • It's also good to have an Alarm, I'm partial to the style listed so you can check voltage between rounds and leave it off the rest of the time, though he sells others.

  • A good battery setup for up to 60 Amps motor draw, according to /u/LukeKoboJobo these lipos

Tray fits a 35x19x75mm box with some wiggle room all around, so similar packs should fit.

/u/Lukekobojobo also came up with the openwheel, which would make it so you need to buy ~$10-15 in parts, but can make like 20 sets of wheels with those parts and prints if you've got the printer. Openflywheel project has cages you can just download and print that are, IMO, optimal if you have a printer anyway.

/u/outofdarts sells other mod parts specific to your build not linked, if you want to look around. Containment Crew and Foamblast are also good shops, Outofdarts is just local to me.

License is CC:A because the Freigewehr is CC:A, I'd have released it CC0 otherwise so don't worry about attributing me. However, commercial vendors should note: if you appreciate the work I've done, please consider that it takes time for me to do it and I'd be able to do more if you can support it with a different licensing agreement.
