3D model description

Big Al was a pet project for a semi-retired dispossessed mechwarrior that over the course of five years managed to put together a working assault mech out of whatever he could find. This was a solid challenge as the Atlas had been cored. This left almost nothing intact- including the internal structural supports. The cost of such a complete overhaul and reinforcement of the remaining chassis meant that weapon, coolant and power had to be rerouted in was counter to the original design. Some weapon hardpoints could no longer support the weight or volume they once could. As a result, Big Al looks unlike any Atlas ever produced- looking more like a stylized Solaris refit than a weapon of war.

The 400-rated LTV extralight fusion engine barely fit in the custom engineered mounts, but could push the machine to a brisk 65kph. With fifteen and a half tons of standard Durallex armor, Big Al is significantly underarmored compared to the stock AS7-D it was derived from, though still a touch heavier than the Awesome 8Q.

Unless the pilot face-rolls the weapons, the twenty double heat sinks provide adequate enough heat management for a truly frightening direct fire loadout. Two Gauss rifles are installed in special back-mounting assemblies that transfers the incredible recoil to a position higher on the chassis than normal, giving firing of the weapon a bit of a balancing act.

The gauss rifles are backed up mainly by a quartet of medium lasers. A pair of small lasers helps with close range and anti-infantry punch. Lastly, a pair of rocket launcher 10 racks provide a bit of extra firepower in a pinch.

3D printing settings

I do not 3D print, nor do I have anything but the most basic of modeling skills. I mainly just kitbash from other's creations to build apocryphal designs and variants. IE: the model quality and settings are probably similar to the parts I used.

At least they're free.
