3D model description

This is the Imperial Navy Trooper Helmet as seen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. It has some significant differences from the "A New Hope" version mainly in the rear section. This helmet was redesigned from the ground up in 3D and is a much smoother design since I did not use photogrammetry, so post processing will be reduced.

It is a slightly thicker, to make it more resilient, and has holes for locating pins/screws to make assembly accurate.

As with my older "A New Hope" version, there is no 3D printable skirt included (since a 3D printed skirt wouldn't look right), but does contain a template where you can make your own by using sheet ABS or Styrene. Ensure you print the template in 1 to 1 in paper first of all, and ensure correct positioning and size, then transfer the paper to cardboard before making the final cut from ABS or Styrene. Some trimming may be necessary. I used 0.06" thick styrene (HIPS High Impact Poly Styrene)

The helmet is large and identical in size to the US Navy Mk II Talker Helmet, which was used as the buck for many Star Wars Helmets.
A subdivided version with locator pin holes as well as a full helmet is included if you want to subdivide it to fit your own printer.

Glue a harness from a construction hard hat inside the helmet, or use foam.

3D printing settings

0.2mm layer height for most parts
0.1 layer height for "Ears" if you want to have sharper detail
4 wall thicknesses
