3D model description

This linear servo motor system is configured with an N20 DC motor, selected for its ability to control the motion of the carriage along the guideways. To improve travel efficiency and accuracy, we have implemented a worm gear and pinion system. This ensures smooth power transfer and minimizes backlash in linear motion.

The central shaft, critical to the stability and integrity of the system, has been constructed using 2 mm diameter steel rods obtained from previously disassembled generic DC motors. To ensure a solid connection between the parts, we have incorporated brass inserts, which provide a robust and durable interface. In addition, we have used high-quality M2 screws during assembly to maintain structural integrity.

Overall, this design offers exceptionally accurate and reliable performance in applications requiring highly controlled and repeatable linear motion control, making it an excellent choice for demanding mechatronic applications.

3D printing settings

It is not necessary to use an excessive amount of supports; they are only required in the areas where the brass inserts are located. During printing, a 40% infill and a layer height of 0.16 to 0.18 have proven to be adequate. In addition, I personally chose to use three walls, which proved to be sufficient to achieve a satisfactory printing result.
