3D model description

This is a minor remix of Imitkov17's Amazon Echo Dot Acoustic Case (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2086867). IMO, his is the best 2nd Gen Echo Dot stand design on Thingiverse in terms of easy to print, aesthetics and functionality. My only change was to remove the bridge above the oval hole where the cables plug into the Dot. The original design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2086867) specified adding supports only for the oval hole. While I found it printed fine without supports, some people with 3D printers lacking a part cooling fan found the supports necessary but adding supports to this one area to be a challenge.

Imitkov17 graciously encouraged me to go ahead and remove the bridge and upload it.

Besides not needing supports, this remix also makes it easy to remove the Dot from the stand without unplugging the USB cord.

A couple of people out of hundreds of downloads have commented about the stand not being big enough to fit their Dot. The original design by Imitkov17 has a fairly close tolerance for the diameter of the Dot. I didn't change the original size nor did I have any fitment issues with the original or this remix. Both fit the same. However, just in case, before you print the whole stand you may wish to consider rotating the stand 180 degrees upside down and print the first 10-20mm in height and then stop the print. In other words, print the top of the stand first. Do a test fit with the Dot. Make X & Y (not Z) scaling adjustments if needed and then print the whole stand in the correct orientation.

One last comment: If you like this Remix, I encourage you to tip the original designer whose intelligent design made this possible, Imitkov17 (https://www.thingiverse.com/Imitkov17/about).
