3D model description

If the original short license plate holder from Yamaha is fitted, you will get a lot of splash water and road dirt on your back when riding in the rain.

A mudguard provides a remedy.

However, I didn't like a simple mudguard.

To maintain the technical and slightly martial look of the Mt09, I created and constructed a design with wings.

The water deflector holds back the dirty water very effectively and fits in well with the design language of the MT09 design.

To prevent splash water from being thrown up, the water deflector is attached to the license plate holder from below using clamping pieces.

Inserting and fixing the clamping pieces is a little fiddly.

A rubber band helps to hold the parts together for mounting.

Enlarging the through holes slightly with a file helps with assembly.

The water deflector consists of a base part and a wing which are joined together with acetone or PVC adhesive.

ABS filament is preferable for manufacturing the parts.

The attached pictures will hopefully help with the assembly and should give an idea of the assembled dirt deflector.

For mounting, 4 screws M5x16 and 4 x nut M5 (self-locking) and a

rubber ring required

Painting (1K spray can with paint containing acetone as a solvent) ensures an even surface.

3D printing settings

Preferably use ABS filament and join base and wings with acetone or PVC glue.

A Raft should be used for print bed adhesion.
