Waggin' Wheels

A 3D printed wheelchair project created as part of the 2023 Microsoft Global Hackathon.

Project Description
Commercial wheelchairs for dogs can cost hundreds of dollars or more and so we set out to design an affordable, customizable option that leveraged easily sourced materials at a cost well below $100.

Printing Notes
A complete rig consists of:
2x EndCap-v2
4x SplitStrapBase2
4x SplitStrapCap2
2x T
2x T_Angle15 or T_Angle22 (15 or 22 degree leg angle)
2x WheelMount_Angle15 or WheelMount_Angle22 (to match the T_Angle)

Note: 15 degree legs are recommended but a wider, 22 degree, stance may work better for larger or more active dogs. You may also choose to have straight legs for very small dogs, in which case print 4x T files [not angled] and 2x WheelMount.

Other Parts
In addition to the 3D printed parts, you'll need 1/2 inch PVC tubing for the frame and a pair of 1/2 inch PVC elbows for the rear corners (these can be glued or secured with screws).

Also...
- 2x 64mm Inline Skate wheels
- 2x 3 inch long 3/8th (or M8) bolts with self-locking nuts
- 6x washers for the bolts (3 for each wheel)
- #8 by 1/2 inch pan head sheet metal screws (one or each printed part to attach to PVC)
- 2x 2 inch wide straps to use to support the dog (straps for luggage work great)
- 1x Dog Harness. The printed EndCap pieces are designed to work with the Bolux Dog Harness specifically. Great quality that comes in a variety of sizes. If you use a different brand of harness, you'll likely need to rework the mounting system.

While not a remix, we were very much inspired by the FiGO project and you can use their sizing information to determine the length of each of the PVC sections needed. One caveat is that instead of the lower cross bar being the same length as the upper, you'll need to measure that length during assembly since it will depend on which T angle you've selected and where you place the crossbar (generally, lower is better to give the dog's rear and legs more room). https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1397964
