3D model description

This is a kit I designed that converts the Nerf Maverick into a Talon magazine compatible flywheel blaster that I have dubbed the β€œMayfly”. It was inspired by an illustration done by the visionary Hotkoin, which you can see here: /https://www.reddit.com/r/Nerf/comments/e81snv/drop_in_mods_for_the_maverick_you_say/. I absolutely loved the concept, and the idea of how I would design such a kit has bounced around in my head since. After picking up and dropping the project several times, I am very glad to finally be releasing it and getting it off my workbench and mind.

My goal was to make the kit simple and inexpensive, so no matter what someone's modding skill set or budget was, they could build their own Mayfly. With this in mind, the printed parts were designed to be assembled with as few pieces of outside hardware as possible, as well as make them as easy to install with few, or preferably none, permanent alterations to the Maverick shell. In the end, the Mayfly requires no outside hardware other than the electronic flywheel components, is composed of 14 printed parts, and only requires 2 small internal alterations to the shell.

While most of the pictures show the Right Handed version of the kit, I also designed a Left Handed version of the kit. 5 of the printed pieces are changed to flip the side that the magazine is inserted on, while the remaining 9 pieces are exactly the same as the Right Handed version.

The electronic components in this kit were all purchased from Out of Darts, both because they are a great company that I want to support, but also to streamline purchasing the electronic components and simplify the assembly process further. Of course, you don't have to use these exact components, but this is how I purchased my parts for this kit.

The list of the hardware used is as follows:
--Tezuo 21A Micro Long Arm Roller https://outofdarts.com/collections/electronics/products/tezuo-21a-micro-roller

--Micro Sized Flywheels https://outofdarts.com/products/flywheel-the-world-micro-wheels?_pos=1&_sid=4e8017b05&_ss=r

--18AWG Hobby Wire https://outofdarts.com/products/18-awg-hobby-wire-fine-strand-5-red-and-5-black?_pos=7&_sid=1e263a1dc&_ss=r

--3S compatible Flywheel motors https://outofdarts.com/products/valkyrie-130-motor?_pos=4&_sid=c8d097ebb&_ss=r

--Male XT-30 connector https://outofdarts.com/products/xt30-connector-nylon-male-female-pair-smaller-connector?_pos=4&_sid=8c74afd7a&_ss=r

--Flywheel Cage Screw Set https://outofdarts.com/products/flywheel-cage-screw-set-4x?_pos=1&_sid=8f92c8047&_ss=r

--450mAh 3S 45-90C LiPo Battery https://outofdarts.com/products/copy-of-lipo-battery-template-dont-forget-to-duplicate-this-and-rename?_pos=1&_sid=1c7cc0149&_ss=r

The 9 printed parts that are the same for both the Right and Left Handed versions of the kit are saved as .STL files, and the 5 .STL files that are specific to either the Right and Left handed versions are saved together in a .ZIP file. Unzip the file for the version that you intend to build, and then you will have only the files you need. This was done to hopefully keep the people from accidentally printing the incorrect version of the parts for their intended build.

The instructions for how to assemble this kit are included in the downloads but must also be unzipped upon download.

The .STEP files are also included for every part of both the Left and Right Handed versions of the kit, as well as a blank version of each version for those who would like to do their own custom styling.

Additionally, I designed a Maverick N-Strike Barrel Attachment Muzzle, as well as a Maverick Slide Replacement with a stock attachment point, which can be seen in the pictures above. While not necessary to make the kit functional, they add some fun customization options to the Maverick.
