3D model description

  • Here is Boxer Bot. I have always found the old school boxer photos to be hilarious so I wanted to design a boxer with that theme in mind while also keeping the robot theme (kinda like the movie "Real Steel".
  • Boxer Bot has a custom face where you can insert your own facial hair. Currently I just have the classic mustache uploaded, but I plan to add more facial hair options later tonight.
  • Boxer Bot also has custom boxing gloves that print without any support or rafts.
  • Finally, I will be adding a title belt and corner stool tonight as well. The title belt will be able to be inserted into the hole of the bottom.stl file. See instructions for more details.

  • This project was a lot of fun! I was able to involve my students in both this project and "Maker Man". Many of them actually went home and downloaded the app. The app itself was very easy to use, especially with the construction portion. The only thing I had trouble with was trying to get my model in the correct pose. Other than that, the parts print off very easily so I would definitely recommend it.

Construction

Look at the Modio picture for assembly

-Tips

You may need to trim out the hole in the face a little bit to make insertion of facial hair easier.

The Belt

For construction of the belt you are ideally going to need a printer with a heated belt or really any other heat source that will allow the belt to bend. After the belt was completely printed I immediately took it off the build plate and molded it around "Boxer Man". Once it was around his waist, it hooked into place. Be see to look at the pictures
