Solder Paste Dispenser (Small Syringe)

I printed this thing without checking my stock of solder paste syringes. It's a nice design and print, but way too big for what I have. I got mine from Cash Olsen several years ago in 30 mL syringes. It's still viable (kept refrigerated) so making a smaller dispenser is worthwhile for me.

I thought about modifying and scaling the evgs Thing, but often it takes more work than just drawing the thing from scratch. I work fairly fast in F360 so that's what I did.

Since 30 mL syringes are 8 mm ID, the rod had to be smaller to fit inside. I threaded it with standard M8 threads, and made it a little shorter. The slot in the body to hold the syringe is 25 mm wide instead or 35 mm to fit the smaller syringe.

The body and knob are the same size as evgs, except that the nut is threaded for M8. I wanted these two parts about the same size as the evgs Thing as my hands are the same size using either one. It fits comfortable like his did.

The smoother the nut and rod work together, the easier it is to use this thing. It's worth chasing the threads with a suitable tap and die. As an experiment, I tried different lubricants (silicone oil, machine oil, graphite powder), but none of them beat just cleaning up the threads.

Since it's a simple tool, the design is very simple as well. I didn't do anything that wasn't functional.

If you use the smaller 30 mL syringes for solder paste or flux, this one might be a better choice. However, with both now, I'm covered for just about anything but a turkey baster.

Nothing special to print. I used an 0.2 mm draft mode.
No special post-printing.

Nice simple design that works as originally intended by several designers.
