3D model description

Micromasters' Countdown rocket base sure is veritable grail from back in the day. Here's our shot at creating a refreshed take on the rocket from that base set!

Designed to be compatible with our Cyberbase Tracks system - this set is essentially a gargantuan rocket which transforms into a base play set for your micromaster / core / legend scale bots!

Here it is in rocket mode, alongside micromaster Countdown for scale! It sure does tower over him (but then again, he is micro-sized! =P)

The fun bit is really to transform the rocket into its base mode! The first step towards this is to pull apart the lower sides, flip down the front rocket door, and then just lift over the two side doors over the lower portions to deploy the base interiors!

5mm ports have been judiciously placed around the entire set to allow for accessories / effect parts to be used! Such as these twin ports on either side of the top portion to add on any armament you may like!

One fun way of connecting up 5mm ports is to use short segments of rubber tubing.

And being a rocket in itself, the bottom thrusters all sport 5mm ports for flame blooshy effect parts!

As an homage to a little play feature in the original set - the upper part of the rocket features a little flip out double laser turret. There are a couple of options for using effect parts here. With the front missile bits removed, the ports are 5mm sized for effects. Alternatively, a version of the missile pieces were designed with 3mm pegs, so effect parts can be added on with these too!

Coming over to the CyberBase Track compatibility, simply use the provided WFC connector pieces the notches on the rocket door or side pod and these can then be connected to CyberBase Track pieces or other WFC connector pieces!

And of course, connect it up with the included Helipad too, just perfect for any chopper bots like Jolt right here!

=== Assembly ===

The attached diagram here shows the components of this build, and how they go together.

Couple of things to note:

  • The 01_top part of the rocket can be connected to the 02_cabin piece using 1.75mm filament to align/connect them, optionally using superglue to permanently glue them in place.
  • The doors of the lower pods need to be connected to the body itself using lengths of 1.75mm filament.
  • Depending on how straight the lower pod segments are in rocket mode, you can optionally use the provided "Lower_Peg" pieces to notch them in place.
  • The thrusters connect to the lower side pieces using the provided peg, and it is suggested superglue be used to better bond them.
  • For most connector pieces, if they turn out a little too tight or loose after 3d printing, you can try to slightly tweak their scaling in your slicer before 3d printing.

Hope this assembly guide has been clear enough to help with putting this giant set together!

===

Phew, this has been one of our largest projects thus far! Hope everyone has enjoyed the reveal of this piece and as always - happy 3d printing! =)
