28mm Napoleonic Russian Pavlovsk Grenadiers Mitre Cap

This classic Mitre cap style headress was adopted by many grenadier armies in the 1600's as a symbol of their elite status. The Grenadiers of the venerated Pavlovsk Regiment chose it at their formation in 1796. Even though the rest of Europe and particularly the Russian army transitioned to the Shako and Kiwer by 1805, the Pavlovsk Grenadiers kept their caps and the regiment still had 600 of them in inventory in 1917, many of them still with bullet holes in them from their participation in the 1812 and 1814 campaigns in Russia and Prussia!

While relief on the cap isnt the exact work indicative of the Pavlovsk regiment, it can be used for any pre 1805 Russian Grenadier formation, or for units of special distinction. Officers would still have worn traditional bicorn style hats more popular in aristocratic and staff circles.
