3D model description

25mm version only. I guess it would work with a one inch tube too since the mounting plug is expandable somewhat.
This is my solution to the homing of the Z axis on the MPCNC Burly.
It consists of a 3mm rod (steel, brass or anything really) glued into a bracket and running through a guide on the top of the Z axis tubing.

Parts needed:
1 M4x40 screw and a hex nut.
2 M3x15 with nuts
1 3mm rod with a smooth surface. I have 80mm travel and rod length is about 160mm
so adding a 100mm to your travel should do it.
1 micro switch with lever for 2.5mm mounting holes and suitable screws,
the bracket is 2mm thick.

Print the parts, no support should be needed, use 35% infill.
Carefully drill the 3mm in the rod bracket hole to snugly fit the rod.
Use a rod a bit longer than expected and shorten it until homing at a safe and convenient position.
Tie the cable down.
