3D model description

Collect & Delivery – Thornycroft JJ-type double deck livestock/cattle transport lorry

The Thornycroft JJ-type is a 5/6-ton lorry with long wheelbase. In combination with a Tasker double-decker cattle body, it was an ideal type for effectively collecting/delivering any kind of livestock to/from railroad stations or freight depots. For cows, the upper deck could be removed, whereas for sheep, pigs, and similar smaller animals the second deck doubled the transport capacity.

The Great Western Railway (GWR) bought some vehicles of this type in 1931 and made photographs for advertising posters in 1935. Thanks to this fact I could reconstruct this lorry modifying my PB-type model correspondingly.

As usual the forward wheels can be downloaded in straight/turning left/turning right version. A driver and a 2nd man are included as well. Several parts are needed only for the loading/unloading scene, however drover, cows and sheep are not included here, you can download them from my previous designs:

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/sheep-for-slopes-ramps-and-flat-surfaces-1-148

All models sized for British n-scale (1:148). Conversion values:

Continental N-scale, 1:160 -> 92.5%
TT-gauge, 1:120 -> 123%
HO/H0-gauge, 1:87 -> 170%
OO/00-gauge, 1:76 -> 195%
S-gauge, 1:64 -> 231%
O-gauge, 1:48 -> 308%

I made DIY-Decals for the GWR-truck and created additional ones, more general, which could be used in other context, as I’m convinced, that the GWR was not the only user of this type (see PDF-file).

I had my fun creating this model, hope it will be helpful to someone for his model railway or just for display. I would be happy to see your version.
