3D model description

We come in peace.

Playful, flexible, and irresistibly personable, the Mars Containers have four parts: a stand that turns upside down to become a holder or ring stand, a 600ml capacity container perfect for small objects or jewelry, and an elegant lid with a separate threaded finial.

Switch materials during the print to achieve the striping effect shown in some pics.

The threaded finial has a locking feature, which makes it harder to turn toward the end. Make sure you keep turning until you feel it locking.

Overall height: 275 mm / 10.8"
Outer diameter: 162 mm / 6.4"
Inner compartment: ΓΈ128 x 47 mm / ΓΈ5" x 1.9" (600 ml / 20.3 fl. oz.)

3D printing settings

The Mars containers were designed to be printed in ABS, but they print nicely also in PLA.

Use a layer height of 0.2 or less for best results, especially for the lid and finial.

Lid:
Print with supports from the platform only. The threaded hole prints very well without supports.

Finial:
Print the finial standing up, with supports only from the platform. No need for supports inside the opening. The support is easily removed from the finial by holding it and unscrewing the part.
