COMMANDER MARK

The comic book of Commander Mark was created in 1966 by the trio "EsseGesse "set in the American War of Independence.

The protagonist of the comic is Mark, commander of the "Ontario Wolves", a paramilitary formation fighting against King George III's Redcoats. He was orphaned as a child after a shipwreck and grew up with his adoptive father in a native village. When he learns that his father was executed by the British, he espouses the cause of the American patriots and forms a small guerrilla army.

His best friends are Sad Owl, a brave and wise, though extremely pessimistic and misogynistic native, chief of all the tribes of the Great Lakes and descendant of a shaman, and Mister Bluff, former privateer and former sparring partner of Mark's father. Other comrades include The Hook, a rough sailor with a hook for a right hand, and Doctor Strong, a doctor and secret chief of the Patriots.
