Description

The Tribal-class of destroyers were built by the Royal Navy prior, during and after the second world war. 16 Units were built, further 11 saw service in the Royal Canadian and Royal Australian Navy. These destroyers were built were larger than previously built destroyers of the Navy and saw several improvements over other designs. However they were seen as complex, big and expensive.

Overall several changes were made, yet the main artillery remained most the same. The AA-suite was changed over the course of the war, the X-Turret was also changed to a different type. Since only one torpedo launcher was installed, this class relied more on gunnery than torpedoes.

Out of the 16 ships which served in the Royal Navy, 12 were lost during the war to different causes. The Royal Canadian Navy also suffered one loss. The only remaining ship of the class is HMCS Haida which is a museum ship in Hamilton, Ontario since 1965.

Note: This model is recommended to be used in the 1/3000 scale. The model itself isnt scaled, the scale table is down below.

1/4000: 2,8cm or 1.1in

1/3000: 3,8cm or 1.49in (recommended)

1/2000: 5,7cm or 2.24in

For self calculation: The Tribal-class is 115 metres or 377ft long

The model is intended to be used with little supports as possible, yet some are recommended around the barrels. I recommend using a resin printer for this, with supports placed under fragile parts like the barrels. Up and downscaling might be possible, yet I dont know to what extend.

If you have ideas for more ships to model, feel free to message me.
