Description

Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit are characters in a Chinese legend that has been passed down for centuries. The story goes that long ago, there were ten suns in the sky that scorched the earth, causing great suffering to the people. The archer Hou Yi shot down nine of the suns, and was rewarded with a potion of immortality.

Hou Yi's wife, Chang'e, discovered the potion and drank it, but instead of becoming immortal, she floated up to the moon. Once on the moon, she made her home in the Palace of the Moon, where she lived a solitary life.

To keep her company, the gods sent a Jade Rabbit to the moon to be her companion. The Jade Rabbit was skilled in medicine and often made elixirs for Chang'e. Legend has it that if you look at the moon on Mid-Autumn Festival, you can see the outline of Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit.

The story of Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit is a beloved Chinese legend that has been retold in various forms throughout history. It is a story of love, sacrifice, and the search for immortality.
