3D model description

Work in Progress.......Not a step by step design, you must be a tinker.
Have been using for a few months. Works great.

Rotary unit for chinese or other laser.
Will add more as I get time.
UPDATE: Added new back plate that does not need 2020 carrige plate.

Used some of the 3D printed parts from https://www.thingiverse.com/wdwight/designs.
He has a great design, I justed wanted a one motor design, and by doing so increased the resolution of the unit.

Looked at alot of rotary units out in the market and here on thingiverse, and I came up with the MULLIGAN STEW of rotary units.
Tried to use off the shelf parts for most, but did get the front and back plates custom made at a local metal laser cutting shop out of aluminum. Then 3D printed the rest of the parts.

UPDATE:
Added a carriage plate. Now you can get three 0.250"(approx 6mm) plates made that work very good with this design. The carriage plate allows you to do a four wheel or three wheel. Recommend three wheel, easier to get alignment when using the tightening nut.

So download the files and decige if you want off the shelf or use all custome plates.
Also if yo do not wish to use aluminum plates, 0.250" plexiglass will work if you are carefull. I made my test pieces with doubling up 3mm hardboard and gluing them together. It evern work good. You deside how much you wish to spend on the unit.

I love some of the units on the market, but just can't justify the cost for my little hobbist shop.

If you attempt one, you will not be disapointed. So far works great. But then again so did V2. But did increase the resolution by over 2 time over the previous two motor idea.

I welcome questions and thoughts. And if someone is bored, they can clean up the 3D printed parts. Not a great designer, but usualy end up with some thing that works.

Enjoy

Simple parts list. (my estimated cost to build this unit without testing and design is approx $250.00 Canadian.)
