Soaring Bald Eagle Pride of America Wall Art Multi Color & Silhouette

The Bald Eagle is one of the most majestic creatures in the world. Native to North America, it is a symbol of freedom in the United States; the pride of the American people. Although these incredible birds no longer appear on the endangered species list, they are still a relatively rare and awe-inspiring sight to behold in the wild.

We designed this 3D model of the eagle as a tribute to military veterans - not just in the U.S.A., but all over the world - honoring their admirable courage in the pursuit of freedom for all of Earth's creatures. It is to all veterans, both past and present, that we dedicate the Soaring Bald Eagle Multi-Layer Wall Art & Silhouette.

Two Eagle STL Files
This piece comes in two files. One is a multi-layer STL that can be easily colored by pausing the print at three specific intervals. The other is a negative space silhouette that looks fantastic in black against any light colored wall, or in a light color against a dark background.

Multi-Color Bald Eagle Home Decor
This version is 3D printable with four colors and three filament changes. The layers at which you change color will depend on the resolution at which you print.

We chose to print at 0.12 resolution (layer height), resulting in color changes at layers 12, 16 and 19. We started with a dark grey as the base color (inside the wings). A dark brown here would also look great. Then we switched to Black (@ layer 12) for the outline, White (@ layer 16) for the head and talons, and a Rust/Orange (@ layer 19) for the beak and feet.

Eagle Silhouette
This version is a very easy print, requiring just one color (we chose black). There are no supports, brim, or raft requirements. All you need is good bed adhesion.

Tip: If you're having trouble getting the edges to stay down, I would suggest Cura's "Tab+ Anti Warping" add-on. It allows you to drop small round brim-like tabs anywhere that needs them.

DIMENSIONS
At 100% scale, the Multi-Color 3D Eagle measures:
X = 15.3cm/ 6.0in
Y = 17.4cm/ 6.9in
Z = 0.26cm/ 0.1in

The Eagle Silhouette has the same X/Y measurements, with a Z of 1.75mm (0.175cm / 0.07in).

We haven't tried scaling these files down, but we have printed the silhouette at 200% scale and it came out beautiful. As always, we encourage you to upload your makes. We would absolutely love to see them!

The multi-layer bald eagle requires a little fine-tuning in your slicer, but it's all one piece, print-in-place, with no supports, brims or rafts required.

In order to change filament colors, your printer needs to support Filament Change / Pause at Height. You'll find these in Cura's menu tab under Extensions > Post Processing > Moidify G-Code. Using the recommended settings below, we set three pauses to occur at Layers 12, 16 and 19, using the following suggested color changes:

Layer 0 = Brown or Grey
Layer 12 = Black
Layer 16 = White
Layer 19 = Rust, Gold, Yellow or Orange

Recommended Slicer Settings:
Layer Quality / Resolution: 0.12
Initial Layer Height: 0.12
Infill: 20%
Speed: 80mm/s
Support: None
Build Plate Adhesion: None
Estimated Time: 4.5 hours

Bald Eagle Silhouette Wall Art
This is a very easy print that requires no supports or build plate adhesion. You should be able to use standard resolution quality and a high rate of speed, depending on your printer's capabilities. We printed this at 100% and 200% scale using these same settings:
