3D model description

I was wanting some gated g-hooks to use with a Tom Bihn backpack I recently bought - they recommend using gated g-hooks like these, which they call a gatekeeper.

While they're not expensive, I wasn't sure how well they'd do what I needed, so I drew up a couple different versions to print. Then I used some 1mm bailing wire as the gates (I think I bought it at Menards) and bent it to shape.

I believe this is the regular size, about what the originals are. That said, the design felt too bulky to me, so I tweaked the design slightly to feel better at a smaller size, which you can find here (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6056963).

These are designed for 1" webbing. However, the scad file is included and is parametric, so you can (theoretically) make it different sizes for different sizes of webbing. I'm not making any promises about how well things will work at wildly different sizes.

I will say, it's much easier to open/close the gate on the larger version than the smaller version (because the arm has more give to it).

I printed these in PLA with 4 walls and 20% infill. If I was going to use them for something that was really load-bearing, I'd probably try PLA, and maybe more walls (though 4 walls at that size doesn't leave room for more than about 1 layer of infill).
