The dystopian age is upon us and even the insects are taking notice! This 3D Steampunk style bee represents the collision of historical and futuristic realities. Our precious planet cannot survive without them, but at the rate technology is progressing, even the bees will be digital drones.

DIMENSIONS
At 100% scale, the Steam Punk Bee measures:

X = 11.8cm / 4.6in
Y = 17.5cm / 2.9in
Z = 0.7cm / 0.3in

You can certainly scale it larger, as much as your printer bed capacity allows for. I wouldn't go much smaller than 85% or you'll lose a lot of the detail.

FILAMENT COLOR & PAINT
In true steampunk fashion, we feel the machine bumble bee looks best with a gold highlight. To get the same effect as in the images above, 3D print the bee in black filament (we used IIIDMax PLA+), then give it a polish coating of 'Antique Gold' Rub'n Buff paint. You can find it at most arts and crafts stores, or search for it on Amazon.

This is a very easy print, no supports or raft required. It's all one piece, one print-in-place STL file. You'll want to print in a high resolution (low layer height) to get the best quality out of the small details in the design. We use and recommend the following settings:

Speed: 40mm/sec
Supports: No
Plate Adhesion: None
