3D model description

This is a 3D printable version of the classic doodle bot.

The parts are designed to fit a cheap toy fan:

http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Frozen-Light-up-Candy-Elsa/dp/B00LVJXFMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458840850&sr=8-1&keywords=toy+fan+with+candy

(You can find them for $2.50/ea at most Wal-Mart store checkout lanes with the toys and candy)

To make the bot move around, you need to imbalance the fan. I glued a dime to the back of one of the fan blades and trimmed the blades down to the size of the dime so they'd spin inside the body without hitting the inside. (See Picture)

The body is a plastic cup:

The marker holder is made to snap fit onto the lip of the cup. It is compatible with any markers with a 10mm barrel. I used Crayola Super Tips:

You need to cut a hole in the top for the head to screw onto the neck and for the toggle switch to come through to the outside. I added the toggle switch by soldering wires into the battery compartment to bypass the push button switch on the fan.

For the best result, you should also use the screw from the battery door to attach the back of the fan to the side of the body by poking the screw through the cup before you use it to reattach the battery door.

The marker holder will accommodate up to 8 markers, but fewer markers make the bot move more, so try a few different configurations!
