3D model description

The focus for this project was not to make the most complex design, nor the puppet with the most range of movement, but to make a good human base for sculpting and modeling fan art for characters, to have a good action figure.
A puppet that can be printed and assembled with 20 nuts and bolts.
Includes:

  • STL files for printing
  • Blend file for sculpting the desired character
  • Solidwork files for the fittings in case modifications are necessary or desired
  • 3 sets of hands (open, closed, and resting positions)
  • diagram instructing on needed parts
  • A printable stand in case one is needed

Needed parts for assembly:
- 20 M4 bolts, of at least 1.5 cm
- 20 M4 nuts (4mm internal diameter)
- screwdriver
- superglue to glue the fittings into the limbs

Disclaimer: While the stand included can help with stability, it is highly recommended to get a metal stand, like the ones used for soldering with a magnifying lens, the included stand was just to have something to help him stand up.

The Supplied version of the puppet is version 1.4 and has a few problems. the main one being the size of the needed nuts and bolts
A version with M3 or even M2 size bolts could be possible, but I simply didn't find them in my local store.
The version shown in the pictures is the worst case scenario regarding weight, as the bolts are very long and heavy, as mentioned its best to get short bolts.

This project may be revisited in the future, but given that it took me over 4 months to finish and release this version, that may take some time. In the case I do update it, it will be released as an update to V1.4, so anyone who has bought this will get the upgrade for free.

Thank you for your interest. In case you have any doubts or problems, feel free to message me and leave some feedback.

3D printing settings

  • all printed with 0.4 mm nozzle and PLA
  • supports for almost all parts and fittings high infill for fittings and good layer adhesion Parts should be printed in the given rotation, as that will make it print well both mechanically and aesthetically.
