3D model description

The 'Apo Mali Bottom Watering Planter' is the start of our new range of 3D printable easy care plant pot systems.
We looked at the traditional vases + plant pots In the 3D printing space which are great for cut flowers. provided you can successfully water seal your prints (this can be difficult with the complexed forms of 3D printing)

But what if you want to put living plants in your 3D printed pots?

The soil will inevitably find a way to stain the outside surface of your print. The roots need suitable drainage otherwise they will rot and the plant will die and when the plant gets too big, it will crack your pot due to the thin vase mode wall.

We developed this planter system to combat these issues;

  • This assembly is durable due to the double wall internal pot, which maximises the available space within the pot's volume.

  • Simple to print while maintaining the beautiful print quality of vase mode that is utilised on the aesthetic sleeve component.

  • Easy to waterseal as only the bottom tray needs to have one coat of lacquer applied to its internal surfaces. (if required at all you may find your printer can create water tight prints with two walls)

And most importantly of all, this pot will keep your plants healthy while looking beautiful!
This pot system can be watered traditionally from the top and from the bottom. Bottom watering can promote the growth of healthier roots.

Printed on a CR10 Max with a 0.8mm nozzle using marble filament. The larger tolerances in the design allow it to be effectively scaled to suit your needs.

Only the Planter sleeve needs to be printed with vase mode, see print instructions for more details.
